Got to say, so far I haven't been too impressed by the LA cuisine. It's not on a par with SF. But Mao's Kitchen in Venice has a nice "Chinese country cooking" which I really like. This is mapo tofu with peanuts.

Our little LA castle
Now we've been in LA for 3 weeks and I'm liking it so far. And as Sarah is the one with the car, I'm off to the bus when she's not around.

Total Saturday shutdown
Jay and Jill were supposed to come visit us this weekend, but something came up. Sarah is catching up on the developments in Hongkong on the internet and I... am enjoying the sun :-)

World's best sunshine
Santa Monica Beach. Intense sunshine, extreme UV-index. A problem? C'mon, why on earth would you set foot in southern California if you hate sunshine? :-)

Like a breeze
I love the breeze from the ocean. Without it, and with the current humidity, it would be unbearable. Downtown LA is cooking in the mid 90s.

Escape the heat
The tropical monsoon system from the Gulf of Mexico has parked over the Inland Empire. You can tell by the high clouds. 101 degrees F and high humidity. But here by the ocean it's 81 degrees and a comfortable breeze. Awesome.

Cute enough
Our rental house is great but no, we are not using the whole house. We are one of two tenants. But the Mercedes we have on a 6-week lease is overkill. I told Sarah we should go for a Toyota, but she is a MB or BMW kind of girl. And who am I to even start arguing. I don't even have a friggin driver's license...

Knowing we'll be going to LA for the rest of the summer the Bay looks more beautiful than ever... I'm gonna miss the Bay Area.

Going to the Southland
Last day in Cleveland Heights before going to LA. Sarah is already there, but I'll be returning to our house in Sausalito first over the weekend. My flight is on Monday.

Foldable trucks allowed
Long trucks are having a difficult time atop Nob Hill. Funny thing is, these signs only appear at the top of the steep streets, not at the bottom...

Cooling off
The heat is on again. We have stayed the night at some friends house in Montara and now enjoying the beach. The ocean is surprisingly still in the gentle offshore wind. I'm getting the Santa Cruz feeling.

Good old Judas is coming to Warfield next week. I planned to see them in Concord in 2011 but got sick. Maybe this is the (last) chance to see the metal icons.

Although the San Francisco - Sausalito ferry only takes about 25 minutes, there is a large selection of beverages and snacks for the so inclined to choose from. Even alcohol.

Stand and deliver
The new BART trains are fresh and clean. AC that works properly, plenty of space and digital announcement boards. But there are comparably few seats. BART probably wants us to stand all the way from Millbrae to Antioch on weekdays.

Time to give up the kitsch
Royal Arts Co in Sausalito is closing "after 35 years". 35 years of kitsch? I don't know. And I don't know if kitsch is royal art. But I don't know a lot of things. I just live here.

Scorcher coming up
California has one of the best climates in the world. But in the summertime, the scorchers which spell triple digits, are a concern. This weekend and on Monday we expect one to arrive here in the Bay Area. I love the sunshine, but if it's too hot I'm not the biggest fan.

June 6th
I was reminded by Sarah that today is the Swedish National Holiday. The Golden Gate Bridge throws a fanfare!
