A hectic summer is around the corner

Daryl just sent me a picture of how bad things actually are with our south-looking roof. The rain season is gone so it's no grave danger but I already know too well what I need to do already in May. And guess if it's gonna occupy me for at least a month...

- Sarah, why do we own a house!

Kojima-san to leave Konami

MGS mastermind Hideo Kojima along with some of his core staff won't be associated with Konami anymore, at least not as employees. What you say? If it's a rumor or plain gossip or even true is up to be revealed. But Kojima Productions is no more.

Read and watch more HERE.

An open road wasteland

Whether we will see a new Fallout installment greeting the light of day any time soon or not is an open question. But Avalanche studios in Stockholm, Sweden have something in store for all of us with a sweet tooth for wasteland gameplay: Mad Max. Gameinformer has a nice coverage in their latest issue. There's also a video where the game director Frank Rooke speaks about how they have designed the intense gameplay of their upcoming multiplatform IP.

Feel at Home

One of my absolute RTS favorites and an overall PC game favorite of all time is the Homeworld franchise. 16 years after its original release Gearbox has put together an HD version of the first and third installment of the franchise (HW1 & HW2). The UI is overhauled and they have made a few other tweaks as well. The HW1 is now running on the HW2 engine and next to everything looks better, shinier and more at "home" than back in the day for a modern gamer with demands on graphics and physics. If you never picked this one up you really should give it a go. It's fun and has a lot of atmosphere, and it's totally 3D. You can manoeuvre from up, down and not just in an isometric kind of way. You'll find it on Steam.

Springtime

GGB and the Presidio is gorgeous this time of the year, green and lush. Sarah's friend Kathy took this pic the other day.

All Hearts' Day

Happy Valentine's Day!

In Sweden it's actually called "All Hearts' Day" which I find more appropriate and sweeter.

This is also the very day we sped up our wedding plans after Sarah's accident in Denver 3 years ago.

We're ready for a next-gen wasteland

For the first time ever Bethesda is going to hold a press conference at the E3 in Los Angeles in June. The first thought that surfaces in our heads is: Are they going to announce a new Fallout? It's certainly about time and we can at least hope for it...

The only place to be

A lot of famous people have said a lot of good things about our City. HERE are a few of them.

Run baby, run (?)

OK, so Dying Light is out. But because of the 24-hour window for the reviewers there aren't any real bulk of reviews out there as of yet. The metacritic is 79 for PC and 74 for PS4 as of January last. And for all gamers in Europe who like to get a physical copy there's still a few weeks wait. But I'll get back to you with my take on this one, which has a community taste range from poor to absolutely great. The PC version has had reports of poor optimization and the PS4 version has run smoothly, at least that is the impression one gets by tapping into the community forums.

Our icon's on a weekend hiatus

For the first time in 77 years the Golden Gate Bridge was closed off at midnight Friday for an entire weekend. They are going to install a meridian barrier, which Sarah has been anxious to see for years.

Happy New Year 2015!

Yet another year has been filed and a brand new is beckoning. How exciting! I wish all my friends all over the world a Happy New Year. Take care of each other and make this world a better place.

Merry Xmas!

A very Merry Xmas everyone! Funny, Sarah and I have never celebrated Christmas together. Pity? Of course, but neither of us is especially fond of traditions in a celebrating sense. And we met up in Amsterdam last weekend so we have already exchanged presents (yes, presents is a nice tradition) :-) Anyways, she is now in Mexico - job related of course - and I'm in dark and cold Sweden. To be honest, if there's a time of the year I would like to be in Sweden it's around Christmas. Sweden is special in December.

A fat rain calls for a fat wallet

The roofer knows how to charge you beyond any wallet. When Daryl, who rents our house in Sausalito with his family let the guy climb up on the shingles it took only 10 minutes to determine the leak and take a pic. The cost? $2100. Kidding? No.

Water undermines - and relieves

The annual precipitation in San Francisco is low. And with the ongoing drought in mind it's even less than low. But the last couple days' storms have been the biggest in years. Sarah told me our house in Sausalito is leaking (!) and even sink holes (!) are showing up in Richmond. Well what do you know, sink holes in SF. World's upside-down.

O crap!

San Francisco is a beautiful city. Actually one of the most beautiful cities in the world. No shit. But everyone who lives here or comes here to visit can't avoid the smelly downside of The City: the presence of human poop on the sidewalks. At HotPads you can check on a map where you will most likely encounter human feces while strolling down the street. Enjoy! ;-/

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I'm working in Sweden, Sarah is working in Seattle and I'm going to relax with some video game exercise. Keep your eyes open btw. The Black Friday deals on Steam are going to be awesome! :-)

11.24.2014

Wait! That's not a tree, it's a construction!

All over the world the commercial powers are gearing up for Xmas already in late October or early November. The Xmas tree in San Francisco's Union Square was erected already shortly after Halloween in sunshine and 70 degrees. My friend and former co-worker Steve took a pic.

Happy Halloweenie

Happy Halloween ya'll! Take care and behave out there. I'm going to meet up with Sarah in Amsterdam this weekend. She's been attending an international symposium on entrepreneurship and will have a few days off before she flies back home.

Is that Yennefer?

You´re a fan of The Witcher series, aren´t you? And you´re eagerly awaiting that magical month of February 2015 which is so packed with good releases, including the new installment of Geralt of Rivia´s adventures. Here´s the opening cinematic. Brutal, beautiful and... * fill in blank *

Democracy now

Sarah is in Hongkong on her annual month-long visit. She likes it there and has a huge friend base among the locals as well as her clients. This year she is a bit scared. The pro-democracy protests that's been taking place shove a reminder in her face that this hyper tech city is actually part of a communist state.
