A call from home

Sarah took a photo for me the other day of our beloved Golden Gate Bridge from the GG View Point. It is very hard for us to be apart like this. The Covid-19 wants us to be separated by more than 6 feet, folks :-(

The Holiday season is upon us

There's always a reason behind misbehaving. Go figure.

Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving! It's a time for sharing and meeting, but this time around in a different way. Be safe out there and carry each other in heart and mind.

Keeping the distance

With only 147 confirmed deaths in Covid-19 San Francisco is a safe place. Sadly the inbound traffic is back to 90% of the pre-pandemic levels.

Duty calls

OK folks, it's serious. But who am I to tell you what to do. God bless America.

Happy 4th of July

A picture of our sweet Sausalito conveys our Independence Day greetings to all of our friends around the world. Stay safe and take care out there. Per & Sarah

Burrito "Mission style"

Seeing that I probably won't be able to visit my favorite taquerias in the Bay Area this summer, my quest continues to find a decent burrito in Stockholm. Zócalo has a "Mission Burrito" with fake meat. It was totally OK.

Don't forget daddy tomorrow, folks

Tomorrow's Father's Day. If the world would have ticked differently we would have picked up daddy Richard and driven up to Lake Tahoe over the weekend. Instead we're stuck with best wishes on two different continents.

Happy Midsummer!

Forced to stay in Sweden this summer. Sucks big time. But the weather is marvelous at the moment. This is Sweden at its best.

Is Corona beer still a thing?

A cap of the (defunct?) Mexican Corona beer shoved into a crosswalk stripe in downtown Stockholm.

Happy Memorial Day

Looks like I won't be able to get back to SF anytime soon, which trouble me and Sarah. But it puts a smile on my face seeing people practicing social distancing in Dolores park this memorial weekend.

Now take care of each other and stay home this Easter.

Eerie

The 416-bed hotel Sir Francis Drake Hotel in downtown San Francisco, where I stayed on my first visit to The City in 2009, is boarded up and empty. Spooky.

Beyond New York

Had another try at Bastard Burger, this time around at their downtown location. A "Beyond New York". Not as good as at their Farsta location, but still good enough.

Yes, it's good

Bastard Burgers are a street food vendor in Sweden with that right quality attitude to "fast" food. They claim their inspiration is from the US but with their own "Northern Sweden" twist. I don't know what the hell that is, but their vegan burgers are close to top notch. I have only had one burger that was better, and that was at Vegan Burg in the Haight & Ashbury district of San Francisco.

Your own table, your own pizza

Pizza Hut has issued a new serving routine in Stockholm amid Covid 19. No self serve buffet, instead the staff serve at the table. For roughly $10 (105 SEK) you get a 12" pie with drink and a salad. Not bad.

Mission has shut down

One of my favorite taquerias in the Mission, El Buen Sabor is boarded up. According to their Facebook page they will stay closed until the shelter-in-place lifts (?) on April 7.

Coronageddon

On Thursday March 19 governor Gavin Newsom extends the shelter-in-place already issued in the Bay Area and LA to the entire state. California is on lockdown. Take care of each other, folks.

Shelter in place

Seven million Bay Area residents are required to stay at home through April 7. Shelter-in-place is in effect.

GDC and GTC got cancelled. Now it's E3's turn. Weird times indeed, folks.

"Feds gotta ruin it!" - yeah, heard that one before...

We all know it's next to impossible to build anything new in San Francisco. The Chronicle published an article about this with a hilarious map.

Getting it right

Middle east food is one of the few things they are better at here in Europe. I have never had better falafel than here in Stockholm (or Paris). In California everything gets its own hybrid form, which is not something bad - on the contrary. But if you want something more authentic, at least flavor wise - European Middle east restaurants are the place to go.

Happy Valentine's!

Jake aptly sent me a pic from one of his recent flyovers with his drone. This is The City in wintertime. Beautiful. Happy Valentine's Day everyone.
